WW (Weight Watchers) Chat #168: Easing Stress (Bonus: Shop Your Kitchen)

Last week we chatted about Creating New Routines and more importantly, doing a mental health check. It’s just as important to keep our minds healthy right now as our bodies.

Your homework for the week was to do a #mentalhealthcheck and share with me on social media… Let’s see how you ladies did with your homework!

  • Bernice played along and it looked like she had all the mental health tools. Her t-shirt said it all through – “Not Today Satan!”
  • Sandra let us peek at her Success Planner with ALL the stickers. What a fun mental health break!
  • Rosie had all her things at hand including an index card for her pantry that says, “The answer is not in here!”
  • Carla set her alarm for getting ready for bed!
  • Sandra, Sylvia, Marlene, and Lynn made me giggle because they must have been running around gathering things to have them ready that fast!

Bravo ladies, you nailed it!

This Week’s Topic: Easing Stress (Bonus: Shop Your Kitchen)

This week we cover another subject that is on everyone’s mind… stress. Raise your hand if you are the one person on literally the entire planet who is not under stress right now.

We’re all dealing with some combination of:

  • New routines
  • Different schedules
  • Job concerns
  • Kids at home
  • Husbands at home
  • News overload

It’s okay to feel nervous. It’s okay to not be okay. But we are all going to have to find ways to reduce stress or we may have other things to worry about on the other side of this.

Check this week’s WW Weekly (remember, with a current subscription and e-Tools you can print them at home) for great tips and an article with 10 ways to ease stress during tough times.

This Week’s Homework: #unplug

Your homework this week is to #unplug which means anything that doesn’t plug in. Blow bubbles, do a puzzle, paint – whatever gets you away from your phone, computer, and especially your TV. Don’t forget to tag me and show me how you’re unplugging!

Extra Credit: Shop Your Kitchen

While we were practicing for a potential shelter in place order, I decided to shop our kitchen to make sure we didn’t waste any perishables. I am ashamed to say I found food I didn’t know I had… and apparently I’m a canned food and empty glass container order.

  1. “Clorox” wipes – I have a ton of empty glass jars, several Swedish dishcloths, a gallon of bleach, and water. Read here how to make your own “Clorox” wipes
  2. Apparently I had seven cans of tuna for some reason… We mixed up an easy peasy tuna salad with light mayo, hard boiled eggs, and of course, tuna.
  3. Jell-o cups! My mom used to make this every week with diced pears and lime Jell-o.
  4. In the freezer I found a turkey kielbasa, too many cans of beans, and an opened jar of unsweetened applesauce. That doesn’t make anything… But wait! I have an open bottle of G Hughes Sugar Free BBQ Sauce – recipe coming soon!
  5. Dead bananas… My in-laws were getting ready to throw away 6 bananas and John saved them from the trash. Stop what you are doing NOW and check out this Double Chocolate Banana Bread recipe from Drizzle Me Skinny. Now. Trust me.
