- “Emotional eating is not a character flaw, you have been training for this moment your entire life”. I have no idea who said this or if I just made it up (if it’s me please credit me hahaha). When someone says “you are just eating your feelings” what do you think of? Sorrow. Pain. Guilt. Loneliness. What about joy? Happiness. Pride. Successful. Those are emotions too
- On the day you were born you felt emotion. You were cold, then probably confused, a little mad that your luxurious baby hot tub was no more. And then what happened? Someone stuck food in your mouth and you were happy again. For a few hours. Skinned knee = cookie. Fatigue = iced Frappuccino. Sadness = pint of Ben & Jerry’s. You get it.
- So you’re not broken, our rewards system is. No one ever said “hey, I see you have a boo boo how about a lovely baby carrot or a sip of water? You’ll forget all about it in no time.”
- How do you know if you are eating for emotional reasons only?
- Eating will help you avoid the real issue
- You have “maybe I’ll feel better if I eat…” -itis
- Ask yourself “what was the food going to do?” ——-> What else could do that instead of food?

I will tell you what I do know, answer a few questions and ask again…DO NOT PANIC…please do not insight a riot or participate if one is started around you. I promise we will know more next week! (I am not employed by WW, am not affiliated or sponsored by WW or Weight Watchers International. This is all public information available on their site or from a meeting). For now:
Q: What is it?
A: Weight Watchers has changed their name to WW and adopted the slogan “Wellness That Works ™”
Q: Can we still call it Weight Watchers?
A: Yep! If you’ve noticed though we have all accidentally already begun to transition on Connect and other social media using #ww 😛
Q: Will we still be tracking our weight?
A: Yes you will! This one seems to be a big knickers in a wad point of contention on Facebook. We will still weigh in. You will still receive weight loss milestones/goals and WW will still reward weight loss milestones. BUT let me ask you…I am seeing lots of people angry about the thought of wellness and only want to weigh in. Do you know anyone who is thin but still has high blood pressure or diabetes? I do. Are those people saying that want to be thin to the detriment of everything else? Then I don’t think WW is or ever was for them. This is a way of life, not a diet…. #sorrynotsorry
Q: Are we changing points systems again/already???
A: Nope, we are still on Freestyle and counting Smart Points. There are not immediate changes to any points or any plans. BUT there will be new materials ONLY to reflect the new terminology and focus on wellness. New materials don’t come out until December
Q: My friend lives in Canada, UK, XYZ and her plan is different…will it change too?
A: Actually WW is using digital technology to bring us all closer together. Remember the Better Together slogan? Worldwide we really will be! But it will take some time so be patient
Q: When does it start?
A: Digital Changes will show up on our apps on Thursday, Oct 4th. Meeting locations will begin to discuss in the Sunday, Oct 7th workshops
What else do I need to know?
For now:
-Meetings will be called Wellness Workshops
-Leaders will be called Wellness Coaches
-I will change the name of our LIVE Chats to Digital Wellness Workshops
-Online memberships will be Digital memberships
-Online + Meetings will be Digital + Studio
-The app will update accordingly and will start to reflect wellness goals in addition to points, activity and other wellness that can be tracked
-Members will be rewarded for healthy habits with a new program called WellnessWins(tm) which will recognize healthy habit goals and reward us with “WINS”…we can redeem “WINS” for prizes! See link for more information: https://www.weightwatchers.com/us/wins
-WW is teaming up with Headspace for future ways to use science to change our behaviors….I’m getting pretty excited are you?
-New cookbooks!! Your grandmas WW cookbook of tuna and jello molds is a collectors item now. These are gorgeous books, simple and easy recipes, I can’t wait to crack one open 🙂
-Snacks. Nuff said. No artificial sweeteners. No weird colors. Preservatives? Gone! It’s a party and I’m going.
-My absolute favorite and I WANT TO KNOW MORE! I feel like we are doing this every single time we SHARE one of our FREE digital workshops. Love on another WW’er. Make a meal and enjoy it with someone else. Call a friend to chat instead of letting them eat a bag of M&M’s. WW Good, this program has already kicked off and I wish I could have attended one of the launches. I will be looking into WW Good and hopefully sharing more as they work to make a global impact on our communities for better health for everyone. Every. One.

What’s the best way to get the transcript of your chats? Should I go directly to YouTube?
Hi Barbara! I used to transcribe all of them and it got out of hand. I figured out how to streamline so this one (#91) and tonight’s (92) are the only recent ones. You should be able to get the transcripts here in this post 👍🏼
