In the extra credit portion of Chat #223 we talked all about how to make Smart Swaps that still let us enjoy our favorite treats without breaking our points budget.
One of my biggest stumbling blocks was ice cream – it’s been a feel-good treat my whole life and before starting my WW journey I’d find myself downing a pint or more on rough days and never think twice about what I was putting into my body.
I’m proud to say though, that I’ve had a lot of success getting past this particular food abuse with the help of a variety of Smart Swap techniques (check out the chat for all the details)! One of my favorite Smart Swaps is the recipe I’m about to share with you.
With my Smart Swap Banana Split you’ll get all the delicious flavor of a banana split for a very small fraction of the SP found in a traditional banana split.
Smart Swap Banana Split
Prep
Total
3 to 5 SP (all plans)
Ingredients
- 1 banana = 0 SP
- 2 Tbsp PB 2 or similar peanut powder = 1 SP (versus 3 SP for 2 Tbsp of peanuts)
- 2 Tbsp Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup = 0 SP (versus 6 SP for 2 Tbsp of regular chocolate syrup)
- ¼ cup Enlightened Brownies & Cookie Dough Ice Cream (or similar) = 2 SP (versus 13SP for 2 scoops regular ice cream)
- 1 Maraschino Cherry = 0 SP (versus 1 SP for 3 cherries)
- 1 Tbsp Optional Light Whipping Cream = 2 SP (versus 5 SP for heavy whipping cream)
Instructions
- Slice banana
- In a dish of your choosing, layer a few slices of banana, peanut powder, and chocolate syrup (x2)
- Add a scoop of ice cream on top of your layers
- Top with whipping cream and cherry (optional)
