- Today is the start of the “Points & Calories!” challenge hosted by Julie over on the If You Have an Egg Facebook Group. It’s not a competition, just a great way to challenge yourself and get some extra encouragement!
- You survived turkey day, how did it go?

Last week was Chat #390 “Pick Your Party Personality!”
Last week was Thanksgiving and we still have at least 2 more celebrations, holidays, festivities, whatever you want to call them coming up.
So what’s your party personality? Let’s find out!
Are you a petite portion?
For turkey day (or whatever your next holiday is) will you stay on track, planning like it’s a normal day and tracking everything you eat?
Do you prefer satisfying servings?
Or are you more like me (there are no wrong or right answers remember!) and you enjoyed the day, tracked as best as you could, and made the day more about the company than the food?
Or will you wear your buffet pants?
Remember, there is no wrong answer! None of us got here by just enjoying the day and not worrying about the pressure of counting or tracking on this day!
Your homework was #PickYourPartyPlate. You did it, you survived the most food consumed day of the entire ear for those of us in the US! Your homework was to pick your party plate and either do petite portions, satisfying servings or wear your buffet pants! Lets see how you did:
- Scott had what looked like very satisfying servings and didn’t even finish it all!
- Tina also chose to have satisfying servings and enjoy things she only gets to enjoy a time or two a year!
- Lynn only had to worry about herself and made turkey tenderloin, stovetop and some veggies…yummy and satisfying!
Bravo, you did it!
This Week’s Topic: “Plan an Activity Snack!”
We’re not really talking about eating while participating in activity.
But with this super busy holiday season we are going to be taking small bites. Of everything. Including activity. How?… Let’s find out!
Fa La La La Free Time
If you’re like the rest of us there won’t be much fa la la la free time until about January 3rd. Getting dark at noon thirty doesn’t help encourage normal activity schedules. Neither does all the extra festivities and frivolity.
Temptation Bundling
So, instead of “if I do this, then I get this” What if we combined the two into one epic activity?
That idea is called “temptation bundling,” a term coined by Wharton Professor Katy Milkman: ultimately, you combine something that needs to be done with something you want to do.
She describes the idea in a paper entitled: “Holding The Hunger Games Hostage at the Gym: An Evaluation of Temptation Bundling.” [1] The goal is to get us to do things we need to do by combining them with things we want to do, removing the “either/or” temptation and getting us to ACTUALLY do stuff:
Participants were randomly assigned to a full treatment condition with gym-only access to tempting audio novels, an intermediate treatment involving encouragement to restrict audiobook enjoyment to the gym, or a control condition.
Initially, full and intermediate treatment participants visited the gym 51% and 29% more frequently.
Long story short: the people in the study who were told they could listen to addictive audio books only while working out visited the gym 51% more frequently than those who were just told they should exercise more.

Jingle Bell Jumping Jacks
We’ve chatted about bundling a little activity with some things like countertop pushups while waiting on the shower to heat up, squats while brushing your teeth, even bundling little fun bursts of activity with favorite television shows. If you search “tv workout games” on Pinterest you will find a boatload of what I’m talking about. Things like “25 jumping jacks every time Kramer comes sliding through Jerry’s door” or “15 crunches every time Jim looks at the camera”. More in the second half but here is a link to some starter games! https://www.pinterest.com/ridleyscarlin/tv-workout-games/
This Week’s Homework: #JingleBellJumpingJacks
Your homework for this week is #JingleBellJumpingJacks. We will get more detailed in the second half when we create your own holiday game! Wait for the second half and then do your homework! Now DO YOUR HOMEWORK because I promise there is someone who needs the idea you have already rattling around in your head. Whatever it is let us know, I promise your decision to participate this week will help you AND someone else! Then type it, snap it, share it however you like, and then tag me for your next cool badge!
Don’t forget to do your homework is #JingleBellJumpingJacks and tag me when you share on social media!

The Amazon Wish List is UP and I so appreciate your support. This will provide a way for us to continue testing products for you, trying out new gadgets and recipes, and refilling the IYHAE pantry since it doesn’t look like the budget cuts are budging. If you don’t already know, it costs more than $100 per week to provide this free content to you and that doesn’t include my time. Your support really does help keep us going!

Eggstra Credit: Jingle Bell Jumping Jacks!
We might not have made anything food related for the Eggstra Credit… but we will be making a fun Jingle Bell Jumping Jack game! Move over Rudolph, the Egglettes are playing games this Christmas!
Raise your hand if you binge watch Hallmark Christmas movies during this time of year. Sandra, Cheri, and many many others confessed during the live chat that they do. I don’t usually watch them, but I’ve watched a few in the showroom to hatch the idea for this game.
I found at least 12 items/themes that every single one of these movies has in them, and I want you to make your own list of 12 as well. We will be assigning an exercise to each of these “tropes” so that every time we find one in a Hallmark movie… we have to do that exercise! Here is a list of examples from the game I themed this around:
- If there is a sledding or snowball fight scene: 10 jumping jacks
- Someone is making Christmas cookies: 30 seconds of mountain climbers
- Someone drinks hot chocolate: 10 push ups
And you don’t have to use just Hallmark Christmas movies for this! But you have to admit… they are the best source of repetitive materials. Here are some other movies that would apply and might be added to my list:
- Nightmare Before Christmas
- Home Alone
- Elf
- The Holiday
- Miracle on 34th Street
- Die Hard
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer Stone
Here is what we came up with to be on our Egglette Jingle Bell Jumping Jacks Game:
- Someone with a Christmas themed name is mentioned (ex. Carol, Nick, Noel, Holly): 5 crunches
- A kiss under the Mistletoe: stand/sit 7 times
- It starts snowing: 10 standing snow angels
- Fight & Make Up: 15 heel lifts
- Someone drinks hot chocolate: 20 shoulder raises
- Characters meet in a bakery/cafe: 5 front arm spins
- Someone says “Santa”: 5 big arm circles
- Someone goes to see Santa: march in place 20 times
- Presents are given/received: 25 bicep curls
- Relationship wasn’t what they thought it was: 15 punches
- Ice Skating: 25 leg lifts (each side!)
- Sing a Christmas song: 25 neck stretches
- Someone decorates a tree: 5 wall presses
