News and Reviews January 2023

The biggest news I have for this week is NO CHAT NEXT WEEK Jan 29th. The landlord at the old building is not being cooperative so I’ve put a hold on life until we can get out of that building! I will also likely not be very active in our Facebook Group while I pack and go. Thank you for your understanding so I can get that very heavy monkey off my back 🙂

Last week in Chat #303 How To Build a Weighing Routine, I asked for a show of hands.  Do you weigh yourself…
1) every day
2) once a week
3) at a WW meeting

Frequency doesn’t matter as long as you keep in mind there are some things the scale doesn’t know and that it doesn’t get to be the judge of how your week went. Here are three great things to remember when it’s time to weigh!

The Scale is Stupid
I don’t mean that in a bad way…it’s just that it’s not that bright ya know? The scale has no way of knowing if you tracked every day, if you had too much salt with a meal, or even if you are a good person. It’s just a mindless inanimate object so don’t give it any more credit than it’s brainless box deserves ok?

When and Where are Up to YOU!
There is no wrong or right when it comes to weighing. As long as the weight you are tracking is over time (weeks and months, not times of day) then you will see the peaks and valleys for what they are. One of the members at our local meeting said she does weigh every day but what she sees on her home scale is just “static.” The weight she values is at her meeting. Same day. Same time. Same routine pre-weigh in. Pick what works for you!

Decide NOW what happens THEN
No matter when and where you weigh, decide before you step on it what’s going to happen after. If you always have a splurge meal after weigh in, have your pre-planned splurge meal whether the scale showed a loss OR a gain. If you decide to make your meal plan for the next week after you step on the scale, then make that plan…don’t let a surprise loss or a disappointing gain take you off your pre-weigh in plan!

Your homework for last week was #WeighYourWay. All you needed to do was decide when and where you will weigh …. and then type it, snap it, share it however you like, and then tag me for your next cool badge!

Let’s see how you did!

  • Barbara weighs every Saturday morning before she eats or drinks anything. After  breakfast it’s off to a training session. She says the scale doesn’t know her victories, but she does!
  • Ramona keeps her clothes light and her weigh ins official every Saturday at her in person studio workshop!
  • Kim sadly no longer has an in person workshop but she has chosen Tuesday to be her official weigh in day at home!

Bravo, you did it!

This Week’s Topic: How To Get Support For Activity

Bet you thought we were going to talk about activity this week. Well I was wrong and so are you LOL!

Activity is great and all but if you don’t feel supported with this leg of your journey how likely are you to be successful at it? Getting some cheers from a coach, family members or an accountabilibuddy can keep you motivated and moving!

I Wanna Dance With Somebody

Love exercising with a group? Whether it’s Zumba or a baseball team if you love being  motivated by the group this one is for you. Many cities have walking or hiking meetup groups, you can join a local sports league, or even a group water aerobics class can help you meet new friends who can keep you going strong.

Ridin’ Solo

Maybe you love nothing better than plugging in your fave song and sweating while no one is watching. You need support too! Maybe asking your spouse to watch the kiddos while you head out for a solo walk, or finding a group on Connect where you can share your goals and how you did!

You’ve Got a Friend In Me

Or maybe you’ve got that one buddy you can trust to be there, show up, keep you going and share the workout. That’s a great opportunity to go ahead and put together a regular plan that you can both get on the calendar and know you have to get up and get out because someone is counting on you!

This Week’s Homework: #ActionTraction

Your homework for this week is #ActionTraction. Let us know if you like to give your action some traction – from a group, if you’ll be working out solo, or you have a trusted friend or family member you can get your exercise groove on with …. and then type it, snap it, share it however you like, and then tag me for your next cool badge!

Don’t forget to do your homework #ActionTraction and tag me when you share on social media!
