WW News March 2021:

  • Did you know you can track using Emojis now??? Check our last week’s Chat or the homework below, but go check it out…it’s fun, it’s easy, and it’s interesting to see what pulls up!
  • During our 2:30pm Zoom for the W Knoxville WW Group today, Trish from California shared a yummy protein ball recipe that she lightened up from a friend.  I will post it at the end, thanks Trish!  Also, Sandy from Naperville told us last week about an app to store her recipes with smart points.  It’s called Paprika and she says there is a free version to try and see how you like it!  I will try to research it a little this week <3
  • East TN Wellness Checkins are being expanded and a new Monday afternoon check in is available. Go to WW → Connect → and find the Kingston Pike – W Knoxville, TN group for more info. You can also join me on Sunday afternoons at 2:30pm eastern in this same virtual workshop with hostess Gwen, my fave WW’er and the inspiration for the name of our group If You Have an Egg!  East TN Lifetime Members who were in good standing when COVID started have had their membership extended again until the end of June 2021. You will need to attend a Wellness Workshop during the month of June to continue those privileges.
  • The month’s theme is “Do What Works” and focuses on recognizing that each person’s journey will be completely different, we just have to customize it to fit us.  This is not a “one size fits all” program but WW is definitely an “all sizes, make and models fit!” way of life!
  • Jordan’s Skinny Syrups (link) is coming out with more amazing flavors and combos than we can stock at KC Kitchen Center (link) so if you need something we don’t have you can order it with a 10% discount using code EGGLADY10 at checkout!
  • Personal News: we are beginning to receive a tiny stipend from YouTube affiliate marketing each time you watch one of our On Demand Chat or recipe videos all the way through.  It doesn’t cost  you a dime but soooo helps us to continue to bring you great content. And the more Subscribers we have the more you help…so please SUBSCRIBE, WATCH, and SHARE!

Last week in Chat #212 “Track Like You Mean It” we discovered that tracking (no matter how you do it) is popularly recognized as a key to success in many areas of our lives.

But which method of tracking is right? The real answer is if you’re doing it…it’s right! Not everyone is going to use the same method, have the same amount of time, or use the same tools. But here were some ideas to get you started.

  1. EXPERIENCE TRACK – You’ve had a meal or a food or a day that you’ve had before and know exactly how many points it’s going to be. Or you’re a consistent eater and have the same thing every day for a meal. There is nothing wrong with tracking “breakfast 4 points”
  2. PICTURE TRACK – Don’t have time to track what you’re eating? Snap a photo and go back to add the points later!
  3. SIRI TRACK – “Hey Siri, track That Man’s Turkey Tenderloin” – even your own recipes can be added and tracked with Siri!
  4. EMOJI TRACK – Ummmm how fun is this? Use the emojis on your phone or tablet and see what the WW app pulls up as options…so much fun!

Your homework for last week was #EmojiTrack and was the easiest one I’ve given you…ever. You got on your WW app (some of you haven’t been on there since the pandemic started *cough*), went to the Search Bar, and entered any Emoji and to see what you get. If it was something you would track you took a screenshot and posted it. Let’s see how you did!

  • Sherrie entered a smiley face emoji and got Bird’s Eye Lasagna with Meat Sauce, Eat N’ Park Classic Salad with Shaved Ribeye, and Atlantic Yellow Eye Beans hahaha
  • My Christie used a fairy emoji and got Neocell Collagen 1 and 3. What on earth?
  • Lynn used a birthday cake emoji and got Fiber One Birthday Cake Bar, Quest Birthday Cake Bar, and Skinny Pop Birthday Cake Popcorn…which I did NOT need to know existed hahaha!
  • Tina entered the fire emoji and got Trader Joe’s Fire Roasted Peppers, Hunt’s Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes which made sense. But then she got Uncooked Fireweed Leaves…what on earth are those??

Bravo, you did it!

This Week’s Topic: The Scale Is Just a Snapshot

Raise your virtual hand if you’ve ever weighed in knowing you had a great week and the scale showed a gain. Now raise that same little hand if you’ve ever weighed in knowing you weren’t on your A game and got a loss. Uh huh…same scale different day, got the t-shirt.

So the scale is a piece of equipment, it’s an inanimate object that just takes a snapshot reading of a moment in time. It doesn’t have feelings. It’s not judgmental. It doesn’t even know about that Skinny Pop Birthday Cake Popcorn you just ate after seeing the homework from last week.

The scale doesn’t get to tell you what kind of week you had any more than your toaster can tell if you’re a good person (we can thank Gwen’s mom for this bit of knowledge!)

So when you get the “your weight is up” or “you didn’t get the loss you thought you would” and especially when you’re riding the “same five pounds lost and gained train” what do you do?

  1. PICK 3 – pick 3 things that HAVE changed this month besides your weight
  2. Think! – How did those three things impact your journey this month?
  3. Set a Reminder – How will you remind yourself to pay attention to those non scale victories (NSV’s) in the future?

This Week’s Homework: #NonScaleVictory

Your homework for this week #NonScaleVictory is to choose something from the past month that is a reflection of how you are really doing on your WW and wellness journey. Type it, snap it, however you want to share it and then tag me for your next cool badge!

Extra Credit: It’s Girl Scout Cookie Time

Do. Not. Panic.   repeat do not panic! If you have ventured out in our area you may have seen those adorable little faces trying their best to make the new way of cookie selling work. According to the Girl Scouts of America “When you make a Girl Scout Cookie purchase, you’re helping the next generation of entrepreneurs get an important taste of what it takes to be successful: teamwork, planning, and a positive outlook. Because proceeds from your purchase stay local, you also help create positive change in your community by powering life-changing experiences for Girl Scouts all year long.”

But they are not point friendly. And they are so delicious. And I don’t know about you but they are such an ingrained part of my family’s life we celebrate cookie selling as a “season”. So now what do we do?

1 | Back away from the table
If Girl Scout Cookies are likely to send you over the edge and just thinking about them has your tracker trembling, check out some of these great ways to share the love.

    1. In some areas you can order your cookies on GrubHub. Simply put in the delivery address as your favorite nursing home, grandparent’s house, or surprise tire hospital staff with a fun delivery!
    2. Use the new Digital Cookie Platform. With this, you can purchase Girl Scout Cookies via the Digital Cookie platform and they can be shipped within the United States, including to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and military or diplomatic locations with an APO/FPO/DPO address. To find out if the Digital Cookie platform is available in your area, visit Digital Cookie. If you know a Girl Scout, tell her you’re interested in becoming a Girl Scout Digital Cookie customer—and she’ll take it from there!”

2 | Proceed with Caution

You’re cautious but optimistic about your cookie consumption and need to know EXACTLY how points there are in your favorites. Here is our list based on the 2021 Girl Scout Cookie Nutritional Information (please note: all cookie names listed below are a registered trademark of The Girl Scouts)

3 | Green Light for Girl Scouts

If you are a seasoned WW who has what it takes to consume these limited edition treats in moderation then knock yourself out! You march right up to that table, ask the adorable cookie seller to share her new Virtual Cookie Booth app and order away. Three ideas I’m using this year to get a taste without eating a box are:

Lemon Lemon Up Up: 3 SP Purple

  • ½ cup Nonfat Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp Jell-O Sugar Free Lemon Pudding Mix
  • 1 tsp Monkfruit sweetener or Truvia Baking Blend (amazon links?)
  • 1 Tbsp Fat Free Whipped Topping
  • 1 crushed Girl Scout Cookie Lemon Up

Thin Minty Overnight Oats: 3 SP Purple

Gimme Samoa Baked Apples: 4 SP Purple

BONUS: Trish from California mentioned her Protein Ball recipe during Sunday’s Zoom meeting and I’m sharing it here for you.
