WW News December 2020:

  • Many areas of the country have returned to limited or no in person workshops as of now.  East TN has Wellness Check-Ins in several locations and will remain virtual for now.  Check Connect or ask your coach for more information
  • The Personal Assessment that you take when first updating to WW My Way+ is a ONE TIME assessment and will not be available to update at this time…so be careful (and honest) with your answers
  • If you haven’t already experienced this, you will only be able to access the WW Virtual Meetings on Zoom through your WW app and not directly through Zoom. This is intended to make sure that only those with current, valid WW memberships or are Lifetime can join the meeting
  • *Update 12.13.20: the information I received this week was even  more confusing than what we talked about last week. The “official word” I got was that you need a Monthly Pass to access the Zoom meetings. But there is still an elusive email about Unlimited Workshops and access to Zoom. If you know something, share it. If I find anything else out I will do the same!* There is an e-mail circulating regarding Virtual Workshops. We will talk about the more as I find out details but for now the email states “Important News About Virtual Workshops…Starting December 9, 2020, you will need to be logged in with an Unlimited Workshops + Digital membership on WW.com or in our app in order to be admitted into a Virtual Workshop”. As I said I am trying to get more info but this appears to be for WW International members only (we are in a franchise location here in East TN), and will allow access to over 400 workshops at a discounted lifetime rate. The stated rate is $34.95 per month for the lifetime of your valid membership as opposed to the standard monthly rate plan of $44.95. Also according to the WW website these states are not affected and these rates are not applicable because they are “non-participating franchise locations” including: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Main, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah.

Last week’s Chat #203: Need Help Saying No?, was a rough one for some of us! Learning to be able to tell someone “no” and not start an argument, hurt feelings or ever sever a relationship is hard. But we’re working in it!

Your #hohono homework for this week was to keep someone from grinching your holiday by finding a way to say “no” to something you don’t want to do, eat, or participate in. Let’s see how you did!

  • Marine-Josee shared this nugget of wisdom with us:
  • After an incredibly long day, Sandi learned to say “no, not right now” when company wanted to visit. Instead of saying yes and disregarding her feelings she suggested an alternative and everyone had an enjoyable time.
  • This was the hardest one of all…. Karen’s immediate family is trying to be so careful during this pandemic with one set of parents in lockdown in assisted care, a daughter and granddaughter moving into a new home, another daughter working overseas and a son in the Navy. It’s a hard Christmas for all of us but when the other holiday guests announced they would not be wearing masks or social distancing she said, “No. We love you. We want to see you. But no, we won’t be able to make it this year.”  Whew I’m so proud of her!

Bravo ladies, you did it!

This Week’s Topic: Finding the JOMO* in Saying No

We’ve all heard of FOMO, right? The fear of missing out. This week we’re talking all about JOMO – the joy of missing out!

We worked hard last week learning how to gracefully and politely say no even when it’s challenging. But it’s not just about saying “no.” When you say no to something, you have the opportunity to say “yes” to something else that’s more important to you.

Here are a few steps to help you stop and take notice of how that “no” can bring you joy:

  1. Make a list. Think about or list out all of the reasons you wanted to say no.
  2. Notice how that benefits you. Did it give you time to spend with your family? Did it keep you from eating something you knew you’d regret?
  3. Connect what you gained from saying “no” with what’s important to you. Did saying “no” keep you on track or give you time to rest? Make sure you’re conscious of what you’ve gained from a simple “no.”

This Week’s Homework: #JOMO

Even though we’ve got the holidays coming up you’ve still got homework! Your homework this week is to walk through the three steps above and tell us how you’ve found joy in missing out.
