WW News December 2020:
- Many areas of the country have returned to limited or no in person workshops as of now. East TN has Wellness Check-Ins in several locations and will remain virtual for now. Check Connect or ask your coach for more information
- The Personal Assessment that you take when first updating to WW My Way+ is a ONE TIME assessment and will not be available to update at this time…so be careful (and honest) with your answers
- If you haven’t already experienced this, you will only be able to access the WW Virtual Meetings on Zoom through your WW app and not directly through Zoom. This is intended to make sure that only those with current, valid WW memberships or are Lifetime can join the meeting
- *Update 12.13.20: the information I received this week was even more confusing than what we talked about last week. The “official word” I got was that you need a Monthly Pass to access the Zoom meetings. But there is still an elusive email about Unlimited Workshops and access to Zoom. If you know something, share it. If I find anything else out I will do the same!* There is an e-mail circulating regarding Virtual Workshops. We will talk about the more as I find out details but for now the email states “Important News About Virtual Workshops…Starting December 9, 2020, you will need to be logged in with an Unlimited Workshops + Digital membership on WW.com or in our app in order to be admitted into a Virtual Workshop”. As I said I am trying to get more info but this appears to be for WW International members only (we are in a franchise location here in East TN), and will allow access to over 400 workshops at a discounted lifetime rate. The stated rate is $34.95 per month for the lifetime of your valid membership as opposed to the standard monthly rate plan of $44.95. Also according to the WW website these states are not affected and these rates are not applicable because they are “non-participating franchise locations” including: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Main, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah.
Last week’s Chat #202: A Fresh Perspective, was all about finding a fresh new perspective to shorter daylight, cold weather, stupid pandemics, and the merriest of holidays in a totally different way than we are used to.
Your Chat #202 #merryandbright homework for this week was to find a way to make sure your WW goals don’t get grinched this season! Let’s see how you did.
-
- Mary Ann was feeling a little grinched because her studio was closed and her coach was let go. She decided to spend some time reading to help her relax and take her mind off of the things she can’t change.
- Katy got her Christmas blanket out this week!
- Marlene put up a couple of small trees including one that’s her “pig tree” – all decked out with pig ornaments collected and gifted over the last 29 years. She loves it and it makes her smile!
- Tina broke out her new holiday sweater to take the kids to look at Christmas lights. Even though she didn’t feel 100% comfortable with the size of the sweater, her husband reassured her that she had worked hard and looked great!
Bravo ladies, you nailed it!
This Week’s Topic: Need Help Saying No?
“Hey Kelly…you are the only person who can ever get X done, can we count on you to (fill in the blank)?” We’ve all been there, done that, some of us have t-shirts because we couldn’t say no. It may not even be WW related, but if you have a hard time saying no in one area of your life, it could cause undue stress in another.
The next time someone tries to talk you into doing something you don’t want to try one of these tips!:
- Praise then pause. If you have a holiday food pusher who means well but just won’t take no for an answer, try praising their creation, assure them you took a bite/a sip/a taste and it was uh-mazing…but you are stuffed and want to save it for when you can really enjoy it. If you’re lucky it will be gone when you come back. If not, wrap a little up (make sure they see you!) and then decide if you will count the points and enjoy it another day or if you will give it away
- Someone else’s blessing. This one was inadvertently taught to me by two moms in totally different situations. Mom #1 was like me and had to do EVERYTHING because you know, we were the only ones who could do it right hahaha. She was horrified to find out one day that Mom #2 felt left out because no one would let her help and she was new to the school. Yikes! What if Mom #1 hadn’t found out she was stealing someone else’s blessing while she was complaining about being called to work every event. Both moms were happy after she finally said “no”
- Choose this, not that. If it’s a family member or close friend that you’re turning down how about a compromise or renegotiation? “Oh yes, I’d love to see you too but we’ve been really careful to limit our exposure right now…how about we Facetime over a cup of hot tea and then neither one of us even needs to get out of our jammies!”
This Week’s Homework: #hohono
