WW (Weight Watchers) Chat #198: Talk To Yourself Like A Friend

Comments are Disabled In the spirit of transparency, I do receive commission from mentioning some of the products in this post. Any commission I earn comes at no additional cost to you and I’ll never recommend products that I don’t use, love and believe in.

Don’t forget! The extended free Lifetime benefits requirements were (notice I said were) still waived until the end of November BUT…. Middle and East Tennessee has been extended to FEBRUARY 28th! If we do get to return to in person workshops before then they will still honor that date in OUR AREA. Trish reports it’s a different  policy in her California workshop region, someone mentioned (sorry I couldn’t see you!) that Arkansas has also changed to the end of February to receive your continued benefits.

If you are in East Tennessee we now have Wellness Check-Ins in Maryville, Oak Ridge, Powell, and at the Cedar Bluff main location. Still no word on in person workshops *wah*

And of course, don’t forget to use our special 10% from Simple Living Products! Go to simplelivingproducts.com, choose the air fryer you’d like, and enter code EGG10 at checkout.

Last week’s Chat #197: Find Your Perfect Portion we discussed that a satisfying portion for you might not be what works for me and vice versa.  You can use things like  your hands (see you WW materials), counting, measuring, or weighing to know exactly how much your portion is.  And in some cases you may actually be counting more points than you need to!

Your #myperfectportion homework for this week was to pour out, set out your perfect portion of a favorite food without measuring. Then weigh, count, measure it and see how many points it is.  If that’s perfect then carry on! If not, is there another amount you can be happy with? Let’s see how you did.

  • Terry likes to plan for a glass of wine a few times a week and typically guesses at her portion size. Turns out she’s been tracking more than she’s been drinking!
  • Barbara “measured” her salad by keeping it on the inside rim of her plate then used a zero point dressing and kept her perfect portion to only 2 SP on WW Blue!
  • Trish has an arsenal of tools at her disposal that she uses to measure out perfect portions, including measuring cups and spoons, small dessert plates, small spoons and forks, and new WW 2-in-1 muffin and mini cake cups.

Bravo ladies, you nailed it!

This Week’s Topic: Talk to Yourself Like a Friend

If a friend called and said, “Hey, I just blew a tire” you wouldn’t respond to go ahead and finish wrecking the car. Likewise, you wouldn’t tell them to just give up and gain all their weight back if they had a set back like one untracked meal, a sleeve of Girl Scout cookies, or a missed workout. So why do we do that to ourselves?

We are famously hard on ourselves and I don’t think it’s just my generation. Never give up, never surrender only seems to flow easily from my mouth if I’m talking outward and not inward. Who’s with me?

WW gives us some great strategies for overcoming this battle of the mind! You should print your weekly from November 1-7 if you haven’t already. First, it has a delicata squash recipe that I’ve been drooling over on the second page. But on the front page, they remind us to take 3 quick steps for giving ourselves some grace, looking inward, and getting our mind over what matters!

  1. What if it’s a friend: If your friend called and said she ate the rest of the Halloween Candy what would you tell her?
  2. What if it’s you: What would you say to yourself if you ate the rest of the Halloween Candy?
  3. Mind Over What Matters: Why is it different? Is it? Now talk to yourself like you did the friend, write it down, tell someone, tell us! And see how different it makes you feel to have your mind over what really matters

This Week’s Homework: #mindoverwhatmatters

Be honest with yourself and with us… do the 3 steps above and let us know how you will (or already did!) talk to yourself to get your #mindoverwhatmatters. Post it and tag me for your homework AND to earn your next super cool badge!

Don’t forget to do your homework #mindoverwhatmatters and tag me when you share on social media!

Extra Credit: Air Fryer Dressing Stuffed Baked Apples

For the first time in more than a decade we are having a real Thanksgiving meal. For the last 12-15 years we’ve had all kinds of other things take priority and COVID or not, we’re so excited to have a Thanksgiving meal as a family!

Because my parents aren’t here to make their traditional dishes, I’m going to be making some dressing-stuffed baked apples for our meal! We’re going to make them in the air fryer for this chat but they can be made in the oven as well. The recipe (with instructions for both methods) will be posted as soon as possible!
