Last week was Chat #175: Make Habit Change Happen. We learned how to work backwards and take a desired reward (end result, habit, etc.), find a behavior that leads to that reward, and then pick a cue that tells us it’s time to get with it!
Your homework was #habitloop. Let’s see how you did!
- Katy put a picture of sliced lemons on her fridge (cue), it encouraged her to drink her water (behavior), and she got her water goal in (reward)
- Sherry uses waking up in the morning time BEFORE her coffee (cue) to do some stretches and drink water (behavior) and she is creating a healthy habit (reward)
- Lynn is well on her way! When she sits down to eat (cue) she is drinking a full glass of water (behavior) to help her feel full and get in her water (reward)
Bravo ladies, you did it!
This Week’s Topic: Take Charge of Unhelpful Thoughts
If a friend confessed that they had been bored, scared, lonely, or mad and eaten an entire pint of Halo Top you wouldn’t tell them they were worthless and should give up. So why do we tell ourselves a different story? Watch for more about positive self talk which, by the way, is your homework for this week!
This Week’s Homework: #selftalk
Whether it happened last year, last week, yesterday, or it’s happening now – you’ve likely talked negatively to yourself at times. Instead, write yourself a note using the kind of language you would use when talking to a friend!

Extra Credit: Skinny Syrup Product Review
If you haven’t heard about them already, Skinny Syrups are wonderful! We ordered a few of their almost 50 flavors to try and we’re already hooked.
For those who may not know, these syrups are great flavor enhancers for water, tea, coffee, just about anything you can think of! They’re sweetened with sucralose, most are vegan and dairy free, and there’s no need to refrigerate them after they’re opened. The best part of all? Skinny Syrups have ZERO calories, sodium, fat, or carbohydrates.
We started out by trying the following flavors:
- Strawberry Watermelon (tastes like a Jolly Rancher)
- Meyer Lemon Raspberry
- Unicorn Dreams (sweet & sour blue raspberry flavor, very sweet)
- Dragon Fruit Acai (yum!)
- Mango (very smooth, almost a peachy flavor/texture)
- Mermaid (citrusy, tastes like the beach)
- Coconut
There are almost limitless possibilities of what you could make with your Skinny Syrups but here are just a few recipes we’re attempting today!
Raspberry Lemonade
- 1 quart of water
- 1 sliced lemon
- 1 sliced lime
- Ice
- 2 pumps Meyer Lemon Raspberry Skinny Syrup
