Last week was Chat #395 “The Gift Of Gratitude!”

I know you’ve still got some empty holiday bags or wrapping sitting around. Go grab one and come right back!

We’re going to find some gifts to fill your bag… Let’s get to gift shopping!

How Well Do You Know Yourself?

Sounds weird I know but how well do you really know yourself?  Here are a few simple questions to get us started:

  1. Is there any area of your life where you feel completely out of control? Or completely in control?
  2. If something is forbidden or “off limits” do you want it more or less?
  3. Do you find it easier to do things for other people or for yourself?

No Weigh Thanks Today

Without seeing what I’ve typed, I am assuming this will come across as “no way thanks today” which is what alot of us may be feeling after the honeymoon of the holidays is done. I mean no WEIGH thanks today. Like what have you done or experienced this week that you are thankful for that has nothing to do with how much you weigh?

These Three Gifts

The Wise Men brought gifts to celebrate the arrival of their King. I like to think we are pretty wise so let’s find Three Gifts we can bring to ourselves! You can use one of the questions from the first section or find one of your own.

If you answered that you were feeling out of control in an area, maybe you could give yourself the gift of some training from a professional, or guidance from someone who has experienced the same thing, or maybe even just looking up a video on YouTube about the subject

If you answered yes to wanting something more if it’s forbidden or off limits, maybe you can give yourself the gift of enjoying that thing under a controlled situation, or with witnesses, or at a special time

Or if you answered it’s easier to do things for other people, maybe you need to drop a present in that bag of promising to do something for yourself!

What three gifts would you give yourself to start this new year? Self awareness and practicing gratitude for what you can do is the best gift you can give yourself!

Your homework was #TheseThreeGifts. I want you to take the empty holiday bag or wrapping you found and put your gift to yourself inside!!

Unfortunately, no one did the homework. We haven’t had a lot of interaction with the homework lately, and we are in the process of getting rid of the homework badges.

This Week’s Topic: “Boost Your Mood, Bust A Move!”

Show of hands, who went to a party on New Year’s Eve?

No another show of hands. Who WAS the party??

How does it work?

According to The Mayo Clinic even casual exercise DOES reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression. And if it can do that, surely it can help us bust a bad mood by releasing feel good endorphins (natural brain chemicals that can improve your sense of well being) and by taking your mind off of worries, negative thoughts and other things that can feed anxiety

Fast Fact

Did you know that people who choose to be happier also make better choices in other areas like eating, sleep and activity?

Quiet Your Mind with a Walk Talk

Check out the Walk Talk led by WW Coach Chloe with Psychologist Ethan Kross, author of “Chatter – The Voice In Our Head”. You will have completed a 25 minute easy walk and be busting a bad mood by listening to Ethan talk about how to harness the voice in your head rather than try to eliminate it!

I took a break from typing this chat and listened to this Quiet Your Stressed Out Mind Walk Talk and did something for my body AND my brain!

Extra Credit: Panda Express Balanced Protein Plates Review

Panda Express has been advertising a new Balanced Protein Plate and since I LOVE Panda Express I decided to dig a little deeper and take you along with me!

What is a Panda Express Balanced Protein Plate? According to their website, promotional e-mails and app, these new additions to the Panda Express offering are “nutritionist-approved pre-set plates that both taste good and feel good”.

How do we know they are nutritionist approved? Kylie Sakaida, MS RD is a registered dietitian and content creator. She is also a Panda Express Brand Partner and has approved all of these plates.

How many options are there? As of right now there are five options

Are any of the Balanced Protein Plates Vegetarian? No they are not. While they do contain more than a serving of vegetables for each plate, they also boast either chicken, beef or both as an ingredient

Can I walk in and place an order? According to the advertisements you can only order Balanced Protein Plate combos on the Panda Express website or on their app. I didn’t try walking in, but I’ll let you know if I do!

How much do they cost? I ordered on the Panda Express app at the Broadway location in Knoxville. The cost was between $9 to $12.50 depending on which combo I chose

How long did it take to receive the food? I placed my order on their app while in the parking lot so I could get an accurate time. This was on a Sunday at lunchtime and the parking lot was full. Still, from the time of order until I got my push notification to pull around was only 8 minutes!

How did what I ordered compare to what I received? Well you know it never looks like the package but here are the comparison pictures and my rating on my selection:

Resemblance to the professional photo – 3 out of 5 eggs

Taste – ??

Availability – 5 out of 5 eggs

Value for the price – 4 out of 5 eggs

Ok ok so enough statistics…what are my options and how many points are they? First Up: Double Protein Plate – “Highest protein plate with 76g of protein” – Double Grilled Teriyaki Chicken with half steamed rice and half Super Greens = 13 Points

Next: Harmonious Macros Plate – “Mindful of macronutrients with 57g of protein” – Grilled Teriyaki Chicken and Broccoli Beef with Super Greens = 11 Points

Followed by: Bold & Flavorful Plate – “Big stir fly flavors with 45g of protein” – Kung Pao Chicken and Black Pepper Sirlon Steak with Super Greens = 12 Points

Up Next: Protein & Fiber Plate – “14g of satiating fiber with 38g of protein” – String Bean Chicken Breast and Kung Pao chicken with Super Greens = 11 Points

And finally my pick for tonight: Power Packed Plate – “Invigorating B Vitamins from beef with 43 g or protein” – Black Pepper Sirloin Steak and Broccoli Beef with Super Greens = 9 Points
