Happy June! My birthday is in 13 days and all I want is to see smiling faces without masks. I miss lips and teeth. I’m even starting to miss noses. Is that weird?
I even crafted a poem about my feelings on the subject:
Roses are red
My new mask is blue
All I want for my birthday is to smile
And be able to see yours too
Last week was Chat #174: Raise a Glass. Since our chat on staying hydrated without breaking the points bank, I have been even more focused on liquids. Whether it’s water in a bottle, no extra salt on my food, or mixing in hydrating fruits and veggies like watermelon, I have been more focused this week. And I used less lip balm, stayed full, my fingers didn’t swell, and I lost another .2 pounds! I think it’s a topic worth paying attention to.
Your homework was to #raiseaglass and show us your favorite ways to work in budget-friendly beverages. Let’s see how you did!
- Mary Ann over on YouTube likes to change things up a bit with iced tea or Crystal Light in her water
- Marlene adds Skinny Syrups Salted Caramel to her morning coffee…. umm, YUM!
- Debra says her dehydration signals are headaches and hunger so she started filling a gallon jug with water and Crystal Light. She drank ¾ of the jug the first day, ended the day with 5 points leftover, and didn’t feel hungry at all!
- Katy found fizzy waters by Pure Aqua… she showed us Blackberry Cucumber – sounds yummy!
Stacey made a protein packed “milkshake” with Quest chocolate protein powder, skim milk, ice, and (wait for it) Pedal Java Devil’s Food cold brew – mind BLOWN!
Bravo ladies, you nailed it!
This Week’s Topic: Make Habit Change Happen
You get in your car one morning, click your seatbelt, check your mirrors, and back out of your spot. When you arrive at work and the parking lot is empty, you realize it’s the weekend (or a pandemic haha)
So, what just happened? Something about that morning triggered a cue. Maybe it was the time you woke up. Then that cue triggered a behavior like getting ready and driving to your place of business. On a normal day, that triggers a reward like completing a project or getting paid.
When you’ve identified the rewards you want (behaviors you want to keep) it’s easy to figure out a cue → behavior → reward. Do that enough and you’ve got yourself a new habit. One that comes so naturally that one day you won’t even have to think about it!
This Week’s Homework: #habitloop
Write (or better yet, draw!) a cue that can lead to a behavior so you can achieve a reward!
